·         Team Events – Team Events will start immediately after the awards ceremony for that event is finished. Teams are non club based.  All members of the team must be eligible for the Y-14 individual events.  Team must check and confirm the members of the team before the close of the Y-14 individual event.

·         Event Restrictions — Fencers may not compete in two events at the same time. On the day of the competition, fencers must have completed the first event before they will be allowed to check in for the next event.

·         Eligibility by Age — USFA birth year rules apply as posted on the USFA web site:
Youth 14—1994-1997; Youth 12—1996-1999; Youth 10—1998-2001.

·         Eligibility by Points - Youth fencers who are too young for the next age category can compete in that next age category when they are on the point standings for their age category in that weapon at the entry deadline for the competition or tournament. For example, if an athlete is listed on the National Y10 point standings in men’s foil at the entry deadline for the competition or tournament, that athlete can compete in a Y12 men’s foil competition even if the athlete is younger than the minimum age required.

·         USFA Membership — USFA rules will be enforced. All fencers must be current members of the USFA .You will be asked to show your membership card or other proof of membership to the registration committee. USFA membership forms will be available at the tournament.

·         Format of Event — Y10/Y12 - one round of pools, 100% up to DE’s of best 2 out of 3 five touch bouts. Y14 one round of pools, 100% up to DE’s 15 touch bouts. No repechage for any events. Initial seeding, seeding after pools and final placements will be posted in the venue. Fencers are responsible for verifying and signing their pool and DE sheets. Changes will not be made after fencing commences. Team Events will be Direct Elimination (teams will be seeded by the finish of the members of the team in the Y14 event).

·         Event Check In — Check In will open at 7AM each morning. Fencers must check in for each event in which they are competing.

·         Equipment Requirements —Youth 10 fencers must use No. 2 or 0 blades. You must have two working weapons and body-cords. You must supply your own equipment.

·         Names on Uniform – In all three weapons, each fencer’s last name must be printed in capital letters between 8 and 10 cm high so that the name is legible from a distance of 15 feet. It can be printed by hand or machine: either (1) on the back of the jacket (in épée) or lame (for foil and saber) between the shoulders; or (2) on the front or side of the thigh of the ”rear” leg. Imprinting may be directly on the uniform or on a piece of fabric or lame material that is firmly sewn to the uniform in such a way that it will not detach during fencing or catch the opponent’s point. Fabric attached to the uniform must be the same color as the part of the uniform to which it is attached. Conductive materials must be attached in such a way as to not alter the conductivity of the metallic vest or jacket. Names printed on tape are not acceptable.

·         Equipment Check — Equipment check will be open from 5 - 8 pm on Friday evening, stop by early to avoid the line. Prior to fencing you will be required to submit your mask, lame and two body cords for inspection and testing by the event armorers. Equipment must pass the same tests conducted at national events.  It is in your best interest to check your equipment before the event. Please ask your coach or someone in your club to assist you with this. Repair or replace non-conforming equipment prior to leaving home!
