Prise de Fer Fencing Club Camps 2008

 

 

 

 

Elite Sabre Camp –

July 21st – 26th

 

Coached by Mr. Andy Ma of Fencing Academy of South Jersey, Ariana Klinkov, Jerome Cordero and David Blake. Andy Ma has coached a number of national and world champions as well as US National Team members in foil and sabre. Ariana Klinkov and David Blake have coached 110 national medalists including youth national champions, Junior Olympic champions, and US National Team members.

This camp will incorporate physical conditioning, footwork, tactical drills and competition fencing. This camp is for fencers with competition experience and will be attended by a number of top junior and senior competitors. There will be a tournament on the final day of camp for camp attendees.

Last year’s camp included members from the Junior National Team and many participants were highly ranked on national point lists (Sr, Jr, Cadet, Y14).


Cost - $525 or $175 per day  (limited home stay availability for additional $100)

Epee Training Camp with Paul Soter -

July 24th – July 27th

 

    Coached by Paul Soter, Gamal Mahmoud and David Blake. Paul Soter is a former U.S. National coach for both Men's Epee and Women's Epee and was the coach of the 2004 U.S. Olympic team. He has coached U.S. teams at 10 World Championships, the Pan American Games and numerous other international competitions. His students have been members of numerous U.S. and Canadian national teams and have won numerous national and international titles. Gamal Mahmoud is the assistant coach at Harvard University and as a coach at Prise de Fer Fencing Club has coached numerous national medalists and National team members. David Blake has coached numerous Prise de Fer fencers to national medals and onto U.S. National teams. He has also coached the Concord-Carlisle State Champion Fencing team for 9 years.

   

    This camp will incorporate physical conditioning, footwork, tactical drills and competition fencing. This camp be focused on fencers with some competition experience. There will be a tournament on the final day of the camp. We have tried to make the schedule accommodate adult fencers who are working during the week days. 

 

Schedule -      Thursday, July 24th    6 - 9 pm

                      Friday, July 24th        6 - 9 pm

                      Saturday, July 25th    12 - 6 pm

                      Sunday, July 26th      9 - 12 pm with competition starting at 1 pm

Intermediate 3 weapon fencing camp

July 28th – August 1st

 

The Prise de Fer beginner and intermediate camp is for fencers with class experience through fencers who are preparing to enter into competitive fencing. The coaches include David Blake and Ariana Klinkov. These coaches have years of experience with youth and competitive fencers including youth national champions, national team members and competitive NCAA fencers.

 

This camp will incorporate physical conditioning, footwork, tactical drills and competition fencing. Fencers will learn the fundamentals of foil, epee or sabre and progress through individual electric bouting and team format fencing. Fencers will also view video footage from world championships in all three disciplines.

 

Pool table, ping pong and other games will be available during lunch break. Fencers may bring bag lunches or can order from a local deli each day.

 

Camp will run from 9am to 3pm each day. Early drop- off is available.


Cost - $450 or $150 per day
